Ranger in the Classroom

Park Ranger Cody Herron can usually be found working hard in the fields and forests of Shelby Farms Park, but he recently spent some time in the classroom at Immanuel Lutheran School. Not all schools have the chance to come to the Park, but thanks to our mobile classroom program, we can bring the Park to them! Water, Water, Everywhere!

Last week was filled with wet weather. Starting on Thursday it rained...and rained...and rained some more. And just when you thought it couldn't possibly rain another drop, even more came down. Hydration Station at Mile 0.0

It looks like we've made it through the worst of winter here in Memphis and something else survived the freezes with us... our new water fountain!! Last Fall, in 2015, SFPC installed our first freeze-proof fountain at the Park! I'm sure you had to turn off your water once or twice this winter when temperatures dropped. Well, we do the same thing at the Park. All the fountains in the Park have to be turned off during the winter months to prevent pipes from bursting in the cold.  Until... Read More
